I had no time to work the business today. I just got off work even though I was supposed to get off 5 hours ago. I had to investigate a 10 year old boy for an attempted murder charge. This boy supposedly tried to kill his grandfather and had threatened the entire family previously.
In so many years of doing this job I can honestly say that I have never seen a child being so evil like the one I have met tonight. This boy not only attempted to harm his grandfather, he also held a neadel to his 8 months old siblings neck, tried to shoot both siblings - 8 months and 4 years old - with arrows, held a knife to his mother's chest and telling her that he wants to kill her. He also tried to set their appartement on fire several times and stuck their cat into the freezer.
I have no idea what is going on with some kids today. Anyways, working a shift as long as I have today was not planned. I was actually going to call leads again just like I have last night.
But the case itself and the fact that I had to translate german-english and english-german to post commanders and other high ranking officers from the US Army 6 hours straight has drained me. After so long of translating you really start to become headaches. I doubt I will be able to attend the 5 pm call.

Oh my Julia! I can not wait until you are able to do MPM full time. 10 years old! That is awful! You are really special to be able to stand up through that. Much love and many hugs sweetie. I hope you get some much needed rest!

ReplyDeleteHope you have a renewing weekend with your family. Having my own boy, I shudder to think of any young person having such hardships as the young man you described above. Though it was hard work, may your presence in the situation have brought a gift to the young man and his family.
On a brighter note, you said your boy is going to have his birthday party---was it this coming Monday?
Please give him a big birthday wish from us!!!!

Big Z is celebrating his 9th this afternoon with his friends--- a bit late, sure. His day being on the New Year always causes a bit of hardship to have the party on the same day. He doesn't seem to mind as long as he gets his time with his friends.
Keep your eye on the goals you've set, Julia. And, have a fantastic weekend ;-).
I worked with these kind of children for about 12 years. That in it's self is so draining. It is hard and hard to believe that a child so young could hurt so bad to do such things. Maybe, some though are not of circumstance, but something they are born with. It is so sad. When I had an experience with a child at work that I know that would not be something my kids went through it really made me think and I would come home and give my kids a big hug and just tell them how much they meant to me.
